Carey K. Steffen is an Associate Attorney in the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group. She was licensed as an attorney in 2000 and her practice areas include residential and commercial real estate, title insurance claims defense, litigation and foreclosure. In 2013, Carey became an OSBA Certified Specialist in Residential Real Property Law. She is a graduate of the Class of 2014 Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers. After being downtown Cincinnati for 13 years, being back in Northern Kentucky is a refreshing change of pace.


Carey is a graduate of Bishop Brossart High School, Northern Kentucky University and the Salmon P. Chase College of Law. During law school, Carey clerked for O'Hara, Ruberg, Taylor, Sloan & Sergent and spent a few months working in the Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney's Office as a legal Extern.


Carey was born and raised in Campbell county. She now lives in Covington with her husband of 20 years, Lt. Col. Brian Steffen, Assistant Chief of Police Department, and two children, Connor and Hannah, Covington Latin School Classes of 2016 and 2020.


Carey is an active member of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association, having served as a Board Member since 2013. Carey was recently approved by the Cincinnati Bar Association Board of Trustees as a member of the CBA Admissions Committee.


Carey was recently approved by the Cincinnati Bar Association Board of Trustees as a member of the CBA Admissions Committee, and is currently serving as the CLE Coordinator for the CBA’s Real Property Law Committee.


Carey was recently appointed to serve a four-year term as a member of the Ohio State Bar Association Real Property Specialty Board. The Specialty Board sets standards for eligibility, reviews applications, determines eligibility, prepares written exams and hears appeals for licensed attorneys who seek to become a specialist.


Carey is a supporter of Autism Speaks, and participates in the firm's Adopt a Class Committee. Carey is an avid marathon runner with a goal of running a marathon in all 50 states and someday qualifying to run the Boston Marathon.
